Honouring Downsview’s Indigenous History

These lands are part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, signatories of Treaty 13 and Host First Nation to the Downsview Airport Lands redevelopment. For thousands of years, it has been the Traditional Territory of many First Nations, including the Huron-Wendat and the Haudenosaunee peoples. We are committed to the wise stewardship of these lands and to meaningful engagement and partnership with Indigenous Peoples, as we strive to shape communities welcoming to all.

A Vision for the Future

Northcrest Developments is a wholly owned subsidiary of PSP Investments, one of Canada's largest pension investors. Following the purchase of the Downsview Airport Lands from Bombardier Aerospace, and recognizing the potential of this vast area, Northcrest is spearheading the planning and development of the 370-acre site, now known as YZD. From the outset and over the coming decades, Northcrest will collaborate with a diverse array of partners to transform this site into a vibrant series of new neighbourhoods.

Meet YZD

In the heart of Toronto, a transformation is underway at YZD. Over the coming decades, these 370-acres of largely undeveloped lands will build out to a series of new neighbourhoods. At its core lies a two-kilometre pedestrian street, the repurposed former runway, set to become the bustling heart of this new community. The call code of the former Downsview Airport, YZD pays homage to its legacy of innovation and industry.
